Alright, what's the deal with all these people riding around in their cars blasting Michael Jackson songs?  Especially these little 19 year old collage kids who probably never owned even one Michael Jackson CD before he died and as recently as a few weeks ago would have been blasting rap "music" from their car stereos and still would be if he hadn't died!

Seriously, I was at work and this kid drives through the parking lot with UCF stickers on his car and his windows rolled down blasting "Billy Jean".  Besides that he was sporting the "thug" look.  You know, hat to the side and a shirt that's four sizes too big?  Yeah, he didn't look like he had been born yet when "Billy Jean" first aired on the radio and even if he was a fan, were was his loud show of support back when MJ was alive and still being made fun of for all the many things we all made jokes about while the man was alive?

This isn't even the first time I've come across this sort of thing.  I've been seeing it everywhere, on-line, on the streets, in department stores, on TV, in the news papers and magazines and of course, the tabloids couldn't wait to run a slew of MJ stories like "Doctors Killed Michael Jackson!", "Drugs Killed Michael Jackson!", "Someone Murdered Michael Jackson!" and my new favorite sleaze from these people, "Plot To Steal Michael's Body!"  :/

Really?

A month ago people were laughing about his planned comeback tour and the child molester jokes were flying left and right.  Now every body and their kid brother is a fan?!

What a bunch of fucking drones:/

I saw the new Transformers movie earlier.  I enjoyed it for the summer popcorn movie that it is:)  I may review it later for those who are interested in my opinion.

Off to go straighten my room and sort through my stuff.

Writer's Block: Don't Call It a Comeback

The French term "l'esprit de l'escalier," which translates literally as "the wit of the staircase," refers to those perfect, clever comebacks that you only think of after the fact. What's the best came-too-late comeback you've ever had?

Ha!  Funny you should ask:)  I have the best story about a situation like this where someone said something and I thought of the perfect comeback for it later.  The best part:  The sucker gave me another opportunity to come back at him later with an even bigger payoff:)

Okay, so check this out.  I had this female acquaintance I accationally socialized with in High School.  She made the mistake of sleeping with this real douche bag.  He was the kind of arrogant prick you wanted to tear down on general principle.  He would even say things like "If I want your opinion, I'll give you one." and shit like that.

After their night together, this guy was going around bragging about it and telling other guys (including me) not to bother with her because she was a "dead lay".  He would go on to explain how she would just lay there and not do anything while he was (his choice of words not mine) "fucking" her.

I don't know why he was even telling me for.  I never liked the son of a bitch and made it no secret.  The way he was putting this girls business out there really pissed me off too.  It takes a real asshole to embarrass someone like that.  Her poor choice in guys not withstanding, she didn't deserve this.  Later after he had said this stuff to me I thought of the perfect comeback to put him in his place and it bugged the hell out of me that I didn't think of it then.  But fate or karma or his own stupidity was out to get him:)

He went for the big hit and repeated his offensive remarks in front of a larger audience. He was trying to really embarrass her by telling an entire class that we three happened to share, all at once!  With her in the room!  The teacher had stepped out a moment and he starts talking and I see her face getting red and tears welling up and I push my rage down and wait patiently for him to finish.  He had just finished outlining for our classmates how unresponsive and lame he thought she was in the sack and just then, with the teacher walking back into the room and the whole class riveted by what was being said, I spoke up.  "Did you ever stop to think that it might have been a reflection on YOUR performance?"  I asked.

There was a split second of silence.  In that moment the teacher stopped in her tracks, the girls tears stopped and a small smile pulled at her lips and then... the whole class burst out with laughter.

I wasn't popular in High School nor was I concerned with being popular but with one question asked at the right moment, I had robbed this ass clown of his undeserved rock star status and redeemed some of that poor girl's dignity.  It was a good day:)

WOOT!

I got a call from work this morning and they offered me not one but two shifts!  They're short ones but I stand to pick up about 10 more hours total which should help me out:)

So, um... yeah.

Well, here it's the weekend and so far, the most fun I've had is going to the movies.  I close at work tonight which pretty much precludes me from doing much else:/  I'm definitely going to IBar tomorrow after work.  I doubt the good music will last long by the time I get there:/  Even if I don't stay there, I can wonder around downtown or walk around Lake Eola.  Just so long as I'm out and not sitting here.

At some point I need to call Arabian Nights and find out about show times.  I need to use my discount this month.  It expires on the 31st and there's just no way I can afford to go with out it.  Hopefully I can find out about shows well in advance so I can make sure I'm off for it and maybe have time to talk someone into going with me.  I've never been and it looks really cool.

This is probably a dumb question but...

...has anybody else been feeling like this lately?

Because sometimes, I feel like being an asshole.

Once again, because I can.

From the same quadrant that brought us Romulan Ale comes:

The consequences of being an interstellar player:  Alien STDs.

Don't hate the player.  Hate the Klingon aphrodisiacs... and sneaky Romulans who poke holes in your condoms:(

Has anyone heard of any good part time jobs in the area?

Don't laugh.  I'm serious.  I know that the job market sucks right now and there aren't many openings but if anyone would be so kind as to keep their ear to the ground and their eyes peeled, I would appreciate it.  I need a second Job.

Also, I may be looking to change my living situation.  My rent is too high.  If any one is looking for a roommate, I may be the guy, provided that I can afford what my share of the bills would be.

Writer's Block: Things You Don't Want to Know

If you knew that a friend's significant other was cheating on him or her, would you tell your friend the truth or keep it to yourself?

View 502 Answers

Nope.  I wouldn't relieve that person of their responsibility.  I'd drag his or her punk ass out in front of my friend so they can own up to their betrayal themselves.  I'm a big believer in forcing ass clowns to accept responsibility for their own fucked up behavior no matter how afraid they are of the consequences.  They should have thought things through before they dropped their pants.

Clearly, I wouldn't be the one you would want to tell if you were cheating on one of my friends;)

Dave?

So... I've been thinking of taking up this rather expensive hobby for some time now...

I want to learn how to play the guitar.  I want an electric one.  Sadly my budget has had no room for even my more affordable interests these days:(

But today, I was helping my friend John (who just happens to be a musician) and his Girlfriend Sara, move some stuff into storage while they work on their house.  In doing so, I came away with $20 and some free swag including a small amp that an old roommate left behind!  So, now I have the first piece I need to get started with my future hobby:)

I don't know how good this amp is but I know it works.  It's a Squier 15 made by Fender Musical Instruments.  I don't know if that's a good thing or not.  I didn't think to ask John:P  Maybe one of my LJ friends with knowledge of musical instruments can tell me;)

I'm just happy because it's one less thing I'll have to buy when I'm financially ready to pursue this interest:)  I've been wanting to look into it for quite some time.
